Thank you, Mr. Abbott

This is my thank you note to the single teacher that changed my life. There are not enough words to truly put together to show my gratitude for him. Mr. Abbott, is the best teacher I have ever had. As someone who has attended university and college classes, I can truly say there is no one who can be held to such a high title in my eyes. He is the epitome of what every teacher should be, and what every student deserves.

Mr. Abbott,
You made every day in your class room feel less like learning and more like fun. As a 13 year old girl, I felt so at ease walking into my first class of junior high. You are warm and welcoming, and far from your average educator. You taught us so many things that went beyond the classroom curriculum and onto life lessons. The most important being respect. You taught us not only to respect others, but what respect truly is. I have seen you first hand turn a “hard case” student that other teachers couldn’t handle, into the soft, kind hearted child they are on the inside. You helped them break away their shell and that has so much to do with their respect for you and your respect for them. You also made the classroom feel like home. Some children felt more at home in your class room than they did in their own homes.

You truly have a gift and passion for teaching that I was so lucky to have experienced. You are the reason I have chosen my career working with youth, as I hope to someday be half the person you are.

As I sit here with tears streaming down my cheeks, I realize how truly privileged this province is to have their children educated by you. You are teaching and have taught thousands of students the true meaning of life. You are truly on in a million.

I know you hear it often, but I would just like to say thank you again. For everything you do, because we all know you go above and beyond.

You have changed my life, and gave me so many amazing memories. I didn’t know or fully understand all that you taught me as a 13 year old girl, but as time has passed I find myself reflecting back quite often to the lessons you had taught. I am so grateful for you, and I will hold you in a special place in my heart.

Thank you.
