Teachers change lives every day

Thank you, Ms. Philpott

Author: Kate McLeod
Teacher's name: Elizabeth Philpott
Teacher's school: Beaconsfield Junior High

When I was in the seventh grade, I was hospitalized and when I returned from the Janeway, I was too weak to be able hold up my clarinet to play. After weeks of searching, Ms. Philpott found me a bass clarinet, an instrument which I wouldn’t have to hold up on my own to play.

Not only did she care about teaching all of our concert and jazz band about music, but she cared about helping us out as well. If anyone ever needed extra help with a piece, she would come in after school during her own time to help them out. And then, she planned a trip for us to go to Laval to perform for their students and get a tour of the school.

Even after retiring, Ms Philpott still keeps in touch with all of us, and plans brunches at her house. She’s always there to talk and support all her former students and she is the most kindhearted person I have ever had the honour of meeting.

Thank you Ms. Philpott, for changing my life and helping me get through tough pre-teen times.
