I’ve had many teachers in my life that have impacted me in ways that are beyond imaginable, but I can’t help but think of one who stands out the most.
Ms. Deanne Delahunty is a caring and kindhearted woman who is a joy to be around inside and outside of the classroom. I had the privilege of having her as my music teacher from Grade 5 to Grade 9, as well as my choir and concert band instructor. Her knowledge and love for teaching is a huge reason why I enjoy singing and music as much as I do today.
When I left junior high at Amalgamated Academy and started my high school years at Ascension Collegiate, I was able to come back and volunteer my time with the choir and their annual singing competition along side her. When my high school years were over and I started my first year of university she was happy to have me back to volunteer even though my course load would not allow it.
If I happen to run into her outside of school she is always happy to hear how I am doing and what my future plans are.
Ms. Delahunty is much more than a teacher, but a role model and friend. I am grateful to have had her as a teacher. I know I speak for many others when I say that any student is lucky to have her as their teacher/mentor.
Thank you, Ms. Delahunty
