Teachers change lives every day

Thank you, Mr. Jarvis

Author: Mallory Gillespie
Teacher's name: Edward Jarvis
Teacher's school: Carbonear Collegiate

Mr. Jarvis has been apart of my life since I was 11 years old. At the time, he was not even my teacher, he was my coach. He began coaching my basketball team when we were in grades 5 and 6 with the intention of bringing us all the way to grade 12. Over the years, Jarvis has taught me the importance of dedication, determination and responsibility. He has spent countless hours giving up his time to coach us and take us to games because we are not his team, we are his girls.

I am now a grade 12 student and my years with basketball have recently come to an end, but we have accomplished so many things because we have Jarvis as our amazing coach pushing us to achieve greatness. This year was the only year I have had him as my teacher and I have noticed that he not only gives 100% to basketball, but also to his teaching. He is an amazing history teacher who could bring out a love of history in almost anyone. Not only has he been my coach and teacher, he has been my role model and mentor. I can only aspire to be half the person he is.

Thank you, Mr. Jarvis, on the court and in the classroom, you have impacted many lives including my own.
