It is incredible when a teacher touches your life and helps you see what you really can become. This was true of two exceptional French teachers in Bishop’s Falls, NL.
Mary Tremblett and Madonna Kelly instilled a love for a second language in so many of their students at Leo Burke Academy. Just the sheer number of students from Bishop’s Falls that went on to study French and pursue a career teaching French is a true testament to the impact that these wonderful teachers had on all of us.
Going to French class was always fun and welcoming with these two at the helm. I remember being so nervous for our oral interview but Mrs. Kelly put our minds at ease with her constant encouragement. Mrs. Tremblett would always lend an ear to students and developed such a rapport with her students. I always cherished my memories from being in their French classrooms and I model many of my own teaching practices after what I learned from these special ladies.
From all of us who gained so much more than a love of the French language, un gros merci!
